Medical Informatics Corp. Accelerates Growth with Opening of New Office in Heart of Texas Medical Center
Expansion enables accelerated software development, creation of new standard of care, and rapid deployment of real-time, patient-centered AI
HOUSTON – January 22, 2020 — Medical Informatics Corp. (MIC), a software-based monitoring and analytics company, opened a new office in November in Houston’s Texas Medical Center. The 10,399-sq.-ft. space at 1801 Binz Street, suite 450, will serve as the company’s headquarters and will accommodate rapid growth; accelerate co-development of patient-centered, predictive analytics; and leverage the area’s diverse high-technology talent pool.
Emma Fauss, CEO of MIC, confirmed this as a significant milestone for MIC. “After announcing our Series A in Q1 2019, we doubled our number of client sites and number of employees. But this is just the beginning,” she said. “The new facility provides us with the ability to continue that expansion in 2020 and beyond.”
The office’s location and design are intentional. Through a wall of windows, the MIC team looks onto the campus of healthcare clients the company serves daily. Open-concept training spaces, a medical AI lab, a central command center and even a meditation room are available for employees. “We are dedicated to bringing innovation to healthcare. I really feel like our space reflects that innovation,” Fauss said. The team worked closely with Tramonte Designs to develop and design the space in a way that meets the unique vision of MIC.
Vincent Gagne, vice president of product for MIC, emphasized that proximity to major clientele is crucial. “We designed our Sickbay platform to give lost data back to doctors, nurses and other members of the care team so they could save more lives,” he said. “In fact, our apps are built in collaboration with our clients, such as Texas Children’s Hospital and Houston Methodist. Having these facilities blocks away from our headquarters accelerates that collaboration and development,” Gagne concluded.
Medical Informatics Corp. (MIC) is setting a new standard of care, founded on improved patient monitoring, real-time predictive analytics, and patient-centered healthcare. We empower every member of the healthcare team to improve patient care, expedite intervention, reduce risk, and help create financially strong hospitals by enabling more informed, data-driven decisions. Our Sickbay™️ clinical surveillance and analytics platform is cleared by the FDA as a Class II medical device for patient monitoring, analytics, and alarm distribution. Using Sickbay, physicians, researchers and other members of the care team can go beyond a clinical summary to access complete patient history for clinical surveillance, automate documentation including waveforms, create scalable virtual ICUs and command centers, and directly develop and deploy their own algorithms and analytics at scale.
