MIC Helped TCH Win ECRI’s Health Devices Achievement Award

Date: February 29, 2016

Medical Informatics Corp. (MIC) and Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) partnered together to win The 10th Annual ECRI’s Health Devices Achievement Award. This award is given to the institution that best demonstrates an improvement in patient safety, a reduction in costs, or an improved strategic management of health technology.

ECRI selected TCH for their ability to demonstrate a successful effort to improve patient safety by using MIC’s alarm dashboard to collect and analyze data by care area, nurse, and patient, and then used MIC’s patient-specific alarm dashboards to make decisions around alarm settings.

Hear The Details At HIMSS 2016

MIC will be in Capsule’s booth (#6437) on Tuesday, March 1st from 2:00-4:00 pm to discuss the project in detail. Stop by to hear how TCH used our patient-centric alarm dashboards to:

  • Realize an ongoing reduction in the number of alarms.
  • Shift their culture to a more team-based approach.
  • Shift conversations from “alarm management” to “patient care decisions.”
  • Meet their common goal of improving patient safety by effectively incorporating alarm management into the fabric of bedside care
